01: Intro into my weird as hell life.
Hi, my name is Mark Lepow and if you are like most people you just mumbled, “no duh, ya frigg’n weirdo”.
Well, I learned in 2nd or 3rd grade at Lake Sybelia Elementary School in Maitland, FL that when you are writing a letter to someone who you do not know, always start by saying, “Hi, my name is…”. Hey, it was back when penpals were all the rage and the public school systems across the US thought it would be a great way to connect communities together. It didn’t work as planned. I think of the dozen letters I wrote, I got one reply, from someone in Montana. Lasted two or three exchanges.
Sorry, I digress, I do that often, buy a program and try to keep up. But I warn you, so far, as far as weirdness goes, I have had one shrink who officially committed suicide (though I have my thoughts), another who retired after having me as a patient, and the last one, well, she was actually a mental health advisor and we started dating (which ended the patient/therapist relationship) while she was going through a divorce. Believe me, it all makes sense once I explain it. Well, maybe not to you, but it does to me.
So, seriously, why the hell should you read further? Because in all honesty, I have had a great life. But as I stare down end stage kidney failure, and have a healthy fear of Alzheimer’s, I have decided to finally start tapping out my life’s adventures. Plus I love sharing useless trivia and other oddities.
Think of these free posts as appetizers with the details available via paid subscriptions, which is how I hope to earn an income.
Believe me, even I think my life has been weird.
Every post will contain a photo created be me, or of me, during my career as a photojournalist, or just a random photo I created because I liked it. I used to teach Digital Photography at the Jessie Brock Community Center in Winter Garden, FL for Crealdé School of Art, plus I am pretty sure I am still the most published freelancer the Orlando Sentinel newspaper had.
Staying Weird,
Mark
